About RWE and Geenex
Rainbow Trout Solar is owned by RWE Clean Energy (RWE). The project is a collaborative effort between Geenex and RWE. Geenex, the original developer of Rainbow Trout Solar, initiated the early-stage development activities including land acquisition, community outreach, and permitting groundwork. In early 2025, RWE acquired ownership of the Rainbow Trout Solar project and retained Geenex for development services.
Geenex and RWE are working side-by-side to guide Rainbow Trout Solar through the development and permitting process. While Geenex brings experience in greenfield solar development and strong local relationships, RWE contributes its global resources and technical expertise as a leading owner and operator of more than 180 projects in the U.S., to support the success of Rainbow Trout Solar.
This partnership reflects a joint commitment to delivering a responsible, community-focused renewable energy project that aligns with local planning goals and regulatory requirements. Both companies remain actively engaged in working with Tippecanoe County stakeholders to ensure the project is thoughtfully and transparently developed.
